The Bay Course at Sandpiper Bay Golf & Country Club offers an enjoyable blend of strategy, scenery, and playability in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, just 20 minutes from Myrtle Beach. Designed by Dan Maples and opened in 2000, the Bay is the newest of Sandpiper Bay’s three nine-hole layouts, playing to a par 36 and approximately 3,450 yards from the longest tees.
Water plays a more prominent role on the Bay than on the Sand or Piper courses, with strategically positioned ponds encouraging golfers to think carefully about club selection and shot placement. Despite the added water, there are only three forced carries, helping the course remain approachable while still providing opportunities to take on risk for a better scoring position. The layout is also known for its MiniVerde greens, where well-struck approaches can set up excellent birdie opportunities.
As part of Sandpiper Bay Golf & Country Club, the Bay can be paired with either of the club’s other nine-hole courses to create a full 18-hole round. With 27 scenic holes winding through the Carolina pines, a welcoming atmosphere, and a location convenient to the Grand Strand, Sandpiper Bay is an appealing option for golfers looking for a fun and memorable addition to their Myrtle Beach golf trip.
